This article is for Singapore-based professionals who need specialist trauma therapy but are navigating a small, tight-knit city where privacy matters and EMDR-trained therapists are concentrated in a handful of practices. Online delivery solves both problems.
Singapore has one of the most demanding professional cultures in the world. The hours, the expectations, the invisible competition — it rewards performance at a level that few other cities match. But there's a quieter cost that doesn't show up on performance reviews: the burnout, the perfectionism that keeps you working past exhaustion, the relationship patterns that keep repeating, the childhood survival strategies that have become adult self-sabotage.
If you're reading this, you probably already know that talk therapy alone hasn't shifted these patterns. You may have already tried counselling in Singapore — through an EAP, a private psychologist, or a referral. You understand the patterns intellectually. They haven't stopped.
This article explains the alternative: private online EMDR with a specialist trauma therapist, at a clear USD rate, fitting around a demanding Singapore schedule.

EMDR Therapy in Singapore: What's Available
Singapore's mental health landscape has evolved significantly over the past decade. There are private psychologists, counselling centres, and growing awareness of trauma-informed care. EMDR is practiced here — but the pool of trained practitioners is small.
EMDR-trained therapists in Singapore are concentrated in a limited number of private practices, primarily in the Orchard, Novena, and CBD areas. The EMDR Singapore community exists but is compact. For a city-state of nearly six million people with one of the highest concentrations of high-stress professions in the world, the ratio of specialist trauma therapists to potential clients is thin.
This creates two predictable problems. First: availability. The most experienced EMDR practitioners often run waitlists or closed books. Second: privacy. Singapore's professional circles are small. Banking, law, medicine, tech, government — these are overlapping worlds. The possibility of encountering your therapist at a professional event, through a mutual acquaintance, or in a social setting is not theoretical. For senior professionals especially, this is a genuine deterrent to seeking help.
Online EMDR with a provider outside Singapore eliminates both issues. No waitlist. No shared professional or social network. Complete separation between your therapy and your professional life.
Why Online EMDR Works for Singapore Clients
The evidence for remote EMDR is consistent. McGowan et al. (2021) in BMC Psychiatry found telehealth EMDR as effective as in-person treatment. A 2023 systematic review across 16 studies and over 1,200 participants confirmed online EMDR as a feasible, effective alternative. A 2024 service evaluation found no difference in outcomes between online and in-person delivery.
The method doesn't depend on being in the same room. It depends on bilateral stimulation — rhythmic left-right input — and a trained clinician guiding the process. Both work perfectly through a screen.
How a Session Works
EMDR's core mechanism is bilateral stimulation — alternating left-right input (visual or tactile) that activates your brain's natural memory reprocessing. In your session, I guide you through:
- Visual: You follow a moving target on your screen. Your webcam lets me track your eye movements and adjust speed in real time.
- Tactile: Alternating butterfly taps on your chest or arms, self-administered under my guidance. This is often more grounding for complex trauma clients.
What you need: stable internet (Singapore's broadband is excellent — this won't be an issue), a laptop or tablet with webcam, headphones for privacy, and a quiet room for 60–90 minutes. The video platform I use is encrypted and designed for healthcare.
The Time Zone: SGT ↔ IST
Singapore (SGT, UTC+8) is 2.5 hours ahead of India (IST, UTC+5:30). This works well:
| Your Time (SGT) | My Time (IST) | Works For |
|---|---|---|
| 6:00 PM | 3:30 PM | After-work session |
| 7:00 PM | 4:30 PM | Post-dinner session |
| 9:00 PM | 6:30 PM | Late evening session |
| 10:30 PM | 8:00 PM | Last slot |
Your evening is my late afternoon and early evening. You finish work, step away from the office, and do a session in the quiet of your evening. I'm fully present in Goa. My scheduling system shows availability in SGT automatically.
Session Structure and Pricing
Transparency first.
First Session: Assessment and Resourcing (60–90 minutes)
We don't jump into processing. Your first full session covers: mapping your history (efficiently, not exhaustively), building grounding resources so processing is safe, and demonstrating bilateral stimulation so you know exactly what to expect. For complex trauma, we may spend multiple sessions on resourcing before touching difficult material.
$50 (60 mins) or $75 (90 mins).
Regular Processing Sessions (60 or 90 minutes)
Each session includes a check-in, bilateral stimulation work, and a proper closing to leave you grounded. 60 minutes ($50) works for many. 90 minutes ($75) gives complex trauma more room to process.
Pricing at a Glance

It works well for many. Not for everyone.
You're likely a good fit if:
- You're a professional in a high-pressure environment — banking, law, medicine, tech, consulting, government. You perform at a high level externally while managing symptoms internally.
- You recognise patterns that logic can't touch. Self-sabotage. Perfectionism that exhausts you. Imposter syndrome that doesn't budge no matter how much you achieve. Emotional reactions that feel disproportionate and you can't explain.
- You've tried talk therapy or counselling — perhaps through your EAP or a private psychologist — and you understand the patterns intellectually but they haven't shifted. That's not a failure of insight. That's a sign your nervous system needs something different.
- You carry complex trauma: childhood experiences, developmental trauma, long-term relational patterns. The kind of thing that doesn't resolve with surface-level coping strategies.
- You value privacy and want your therapy completely separate from your professional and social circles in Singapore.
Online EMDR is not appropriate if:
- You are in acute crisis — actively suicidal, unable to keep yourself safe. Contact Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) at 1-767 (24-hour hotline), the Institute of Mental Health at 6389 2222, or visit your nearest hospital A&E department.
- You have active psychosis that is not well-managed.
- You have severe dissociation without prior stabilisation work.
- You don't have a private, uninterrupted space for sessions. This is non-negotiable.
Unsure? The consultation is exactly for this — an honest conversation to determine fit. If online EMDR isn't right for you, I'll say so directly.
